The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) recently released the calendar of activities and prohibited acts in connection with the 2007 synchronized national and local elections. The full calendar is provided in Resolution No. 7707. Here are some dates to remember:
- October 31, 2006 – last day for registration of Overseas Filipinos (per Resolution No. 7715).
- December 31, 2006 – last day of the continuing voter’s registration.
- January 14, 2007 to June 13, 2007 – election period.
- January 15, 2007 to February 12, 2007 – period to file certificate of candidacy for Senators; period to file manifestation of intent to participate in the party-list system of representation.
- January 15, 2007 to March 29, 2007 – period to file certificate of candidacy for local elective positions.
- February 13, 2007 to May 12, 2007 – campaign period for Senators and political parties, organizations or coalitions participating under the party-list system of election.
- March 30, 2007 to May 12, 2007 – campaign period for candidates for Member, House of Representatives, and elective provincial, city and municipal offices.
- April 14, 2007 (host country time) to May 14, 2007 (Philippine time) – casting of votes for overseas absentee voters.
- May 14, 2007 – election day.
