Stephen Valencia Jaromay


Mr. Jaromay obtained his Bachelor of Arts in political science, cum laude, and his Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of the Philippines. He is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and was a Most Outstanding Debater Awardee.

Mr. Jaromay’s extensive experience is at the core of the JLP Law’s litigation practice, having handled numerous cases of national significance such as the toxic waste cases in Clark Air Base and Subic Bay, cases involving certain personalities in government, as well as prominent election cases that have reached the Supreme Court. He stands at the forefront of JLP-Law’s litigation practice in the areas of general litigation covering criminal, civil law, corporate and administrative law, land registration, titling and disputes, arbitration, construction and franchise law, mining, entertainment and music law and intellectual property law.

His court skills were sharpened by working in various public and private entities such as  the Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) where as Special Legal Counsel he successfully prosecuted  numerous ill-gotten wealth cases,   the Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for the Military where he was instrumental in investigating, hearing and prosecuting criminal, civil and administrative cases against officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), the Philippine National Police (PNP), the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and  cases against civilian public officials before the regular courts, the Sandiganbayan, the Court of appeals and the Supreme Court.  His citations in government work include the Best Performance Award for Confidential Staff, Model Employee of the Year and the Outstanding Employee of the Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for the Military.

Mr. Jaromay also serves as a corporate, energy, project finance, tax, mining, environment and realty law advisor and is likewise active in information technology, energy law and power projects. He sits as corporate secretary for several of JLP-Law’s major domestic and foreign corporate clients as well as general counsel for an energy and biofuels company.
