Rules on Principal Office Address of Corporations and Partnerships

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has extended the compliance period — until 30 June 2015 (per Memorandum Circular No. 1, series of 2015) — for companies and partnerships to comply with the required designation of the principal office address. We believe that it’s helpful to disseminate the information to non-clients as well, so we are summarizing the requirements below, culled from SEC Memorandum Circular No. 6 (series of 2014; full text) and SEC Memorandum Circular No. 16 (series of 2014; full text). Face-to-Face Trial, Training Video (Rule 22 and Rule 24 of the Proposed Revised Rules of Civil Procedure)

In preparation for the pilot test of Rules 22 and 24 of the proposed Revised Rules of Civil Procedure, the Supreme Court, in coordination with the Philippine Judicial Academy (PHILJA), The Asia Foundation, USAID and the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), conducted pre-pilot seminar workshops in various parts of the country. Part of the seminar-workshop is a video for the face-to-face trial under the proposed rules. The video, entitled “A Pound of Flesh“, is definitely a helpful learning aid considering the “paradigm shift” in the proposed rules. Changes in the Application and Issuance of Importer’s Clearance Certificate (ICC), Broker’s Clearance Certificate (BCC)

A number of our importer-clients have been complaining about the Manila City port congestion and the apparent lack of communication between the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and the Bureau of Customs (BoC) when it comes to the requirements relating to the Importer’s Clearance Certificate (ICC) and Broker’s Clearance Certificate (BCC). A welcome development is the issuance of Revenue Memorandum 1-2015 (summary and full text below).  Continue reading ‘Changes in the Application and Issuance of Importer’s Clearance Certificate (ICC), Broker’s Clearance Certificate (BCC)’
